Perfection is boring; it’s a lie that art doesn’t need to uphold. My work prioritizes texture, irregularity, and imperfection. Through each piece, I aim to challenge preconceived notions of beauty and ugliness within aesthetic traditions. These works do not serve a fixed purpose or function. They adapt to the space they inhabit, and it is up to their owners to decide how they are lived with. My artworks are not meant to be “untouchable”. Their haptic quality is purposeful and invites viewers to reach out, to feel, to hold, even at the risk of breaking. Most of my pieces are improvised, shaped by the emotional and mental states I’m experiencing while creating. I often find myself instinctively pushing the work toward the edge of destruction near the end of the process. I draw inspiration from natural textures, such as the ocean, seashells, and rocks, all of which are deeply tied to my home in Puerto Rico.
Christina Grace Roig (b. 1993, Seattle, WA) is an artist and curator based in Aspen, Colorado.
Raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico from the age of four, she began her artistic training at La Liga de Arte in San Juan, where she studied under the guidance of Hiram Rosado. Christina works primarily in ceramics, creating sculptural pieces that explore material, presence, and space.
She holds a BA in Art History from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, and a Master’s in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London.

La perfección es aburrida; es una mentira que el arte no necesita sostener. Mi trabajo prioriza la textura, la irregularidad y la imperfección. A través de cada pieza, busco desafiar las nociones preconcebidas de belleza y fealdad dentro de las tradiciones estéticas. Estas obras no tienen una función fija; se adaptan al espacio que habitan, y son sus dueños quienes deciden cómo convivir con ellas. Mis obras no están pensadas para ser “intocables”. Su cualidad háptica es intencional y busca invitar al espectador a acercarse, a sentir, a sostener, incluso con el riesgo de romper. La mayoría de mis piezas son improvisadas, moldeadas por los estados emocionales y mentales que experimento al crearlas. A menudo me encuentro empujando instintivamente la obra hacia el borde de la destrucción cerca del final del proceso. Me inspiro en las texturas naturales, como el océano, las conchas y las rocas, todas profundamente vinculadas a mi hogar en Puerto Rico.

Criada en Ponce, Puerto Rico desde los cuatro años, comenzó su formación artística en La Liga de Arte de San Juan, donde estudió bajo la guía de Hiram Rosado. Christina trabaja principalmente en cerámica, creando piezas escultóricas que exploran el material, la presencia y el espacio.
Tiene una licenciatura en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, y un Máster en Art Business por Sotheby’s Institute of Art en Londres.
